Our Mission

The mission of Special Reach is to provide dynamic enrichment programs for children and other individuals with developmental delays and respite for their families.

Our Story

Special Reach was founded in 2011 from a deeply personal calling: to create meaningful support for children and individuals with developmental disabilities, and the families who care for them. Serving San Antonio and surrounding communities, we began as a grassroots, volunteer-led effort rooted in compassion, lived experience, and a vision for something better.

What started as a response to an unmet need has grown into an organization that now impacts more than 5,000 individuals each year. Our mission remains clear: to provide safe, enriching, and inclusive programs while offering caregivers the vital respite and support they deserve.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to bridging gaps in services across our community. Because the needs of families continue to evolve, our programs do too. We listen, learn, and respond with opportunities that reflect the real needs of the individuals and families we serve.

Founded by Cici Osonma, mother of a child with autism, Special Reach is guided by both personal experience and professional dedication. With the leadership of a devoted Board of Directors and Advisory Council, and the support of donors, families, and community partners, we are expanding access, meeting critical needs, and helping build a more inclusive future for all.
