Our Volunteer Program
Our volunteers are an essential part of our organization. Special Reach would not be where it is today without the help of volunteers to help carry out our mission.
Ways to volunteer:

Office work - Volunteer at our administrative office anytime between 10AM and 3PM

Special events - Volunteer for our gala and other special events

Programs - Volunteer at our Party Nights, Day Programs, and Summer Programs

How to volunteer

Volunteers are required to sign up for volunteer opportunities ahead of time by completing the "Volunteer Sign Up" below.

Teen Volunteers 15 years and older are required complete the "Teen volunteer Application" below.

Volunteers 14 years and younger are required to volunteer with an adult 21 years and older, and complete the "Teen volunteer Application" below.

Adult volunteers 19 years and older are required complete the "Adult volunteer Application" below and pass a background check.

Returning volunteer, please complete the volunteer sign up form to let us know your availability.

Participant Application Information
Our Special Reach programs are thoughtfully designed to support children with intellectual and developmental challenges. To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, volunteers, and staff, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria for each program.
​
To apply, interested families must submit a completed application form along with all required application steps before participating in any program. Once submitted, applicants will be notified of the status of their application.
​
Please note that, to maintain a safe and conducive environment for all participants, children who demonstrate the following behaviors may not be eligible for admission into the Special Reach program:

Physical harm to themselves or others

Physical aggression
-
Sexual misconduct
-
Elopement (running away or attempting to leave the program area)

Threats of harm

Scholarship Program
Special Reach is pleased to offer scholarships that will cover a portion of the program fee. Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

Eligibility for the Program: This includes the participant’s age, diagnosis, and specific goals related to their participation in the program.

Financial Need: Consideration will be given to the financial circumstances of the applicant and their family.
Special Reach will carefully review all applications and select scholarship recipients accordingly. We are committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent eligible children from accessing the valuable resources and support provided by our programs.

Special Reach is a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on making a lasting, positive impact in the lives of children with intellectual and developmental challenges, as well as their families. Through the generous support of our community and the hard work of our staff, Special Reach has experienced tremendous growth, expanding from serving just 5 children in 2011 to over 5,000 individuals now impacted.
